Jazz lovers and fans of the Triad based group
The UpperLineup now have the opportunity to
hear and purchase the long awaited release
of their first CD entitled "Strike".
This recording represents as many jazz
styles as the diverse backgrounds of the
band members. Many of the tunes on the CD,
including the title tune "Strike" are originals
by Jeff Weichinger (bass) and Bil Jenko
(piano). The others are arrangements of
standards such as Roberto's (vibraphone)
arrangement of the John Lewis (of the
Modern Jazz Quartet) classic, "Django". All
are colored by drummer Jim Hoyle's deft
handling of complex rhythms. Each tune on
the album highlights the individual talents of
the band but you just have to hear it for
yourself !
